I began in this industry in 1978 with my dad buying old homes, fixed them up and selling them. This wasn't our full-time gig, dad's career was very stable, and mine, with a young family, was climbing a corporate ladder. After 14 years of corporate world, it seemed my path was destined to be in the construction industry.  Our projects were more of family gathering every night. My mother and wife would prepare dinners there, kids played and generally had fun time while we held prospect of making a few extra bucks at the end.  The term flipper hadn't been coined yet, but I don't think we would have been called "flippers" as my dad constantly harped, "do it like you were going to live here" and would admonish me for taking a frugal approach to materials. That always struck me, and frankly stuck with me. Today, having had a good run in the new construction industry, I found myself migrating toward things I loved to do, rather to those which I had to do.   Each year it seemed that I was refining my love and directing my energies to where I am now. The only thing that has carried through each phase of my industry journey has been my dad's voice echoing in my head "Do it like you're going to live here" And that's exactly how we operate. Thanks dad.
